A SNEAKY NEW FAST FOOD FEE IN CITY OF LOS ANGELES
As if the food itself at McDonald’s, Chick-fil-A and other chains wasn’t high enough, now you can plan on paying 10 cents for the bags that food comes in. Just like the grocery stores, fast food restaurants in the city of Los Angeles can now charge for those food bags. At least with a grocery story you have the option of saying yes or no to a bag, which is fine if you only have a couple items, but saying no to a bag full of burgers and fries could get a little dicey. Part of the reasoning behind the charge is to provide the customer with a recyclable bag. Really? Have you ever left your paper bag of food on the counter only to come back and see the giant spots of grease staining the bottom? Even if you wanted to reuse that bag, that’s probably not going to happen. Some chains do have signs warning of the fee. Chick-fil-A says it’s up to the individual franchises whether to charge the 10 cents. If you’re ordering with the app at McDonald’s you can opt out of a bag, but it’s likely they’ll give you one anyway, no charge.
